Our Balloon
Our balloon can accommodate quite a number of people at a time. It is possible to use hot air ballooning for team building exercises.
License
Life Ballooning is a licensed Air Transport Service. Our air services number for Class II (chartering) is N606D and for Class III (advertising) is G607D. Life Ballooning has been authorized to operate the said air service(s) in accordance with the approved operations manual and the provisions of the Air Services Licensing Act 1990 (Act No 74 of 1962), and the Civil Aviation Offences Act 1972 (Act N.10 of 1972).
Insurance
Life Ballooning is fully ensured for third party liability (R2.500,000) as well as R1.000,000 per passenger liability. Our balloons are inspected and maintained according to the rules and regulations of the SA Civil Aviation Authority.
Pilots
Our pilots has a balloon pilot rating from CAA. To get the rating, one has to fly a minimum number of hours with an instructor, make a solo flight and pass written, oral and flight tests. It is extremely important to only fly with a commercial operation. Life Ballooning is one of 7 in the country. We have been audited by CAA in December 2001, and given a clean bill of health so to speak.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE!
Only legally certified balloon operators should be used, even though the cost of licensed pilots, acceptably manufactured balloons, insurance premiums, licensed Aircraft Maintenance Organizations, keeping of records and operating within the parameters of an Approved Operations Manual, may render a flight more expensive. You are entitled at any time to see the pilots license, the Balloon Log Book, a copy of the Operating Certificate, the Certificate of Airworthiness and a current Certificate of Release to Service.
