About Life Ballooning
About Life Ballooning
Hot air ballooning over the Cape of Good Hope offers you that chance to experience sunrise from a different angle.
As you arrive, you are welcomed with tea and coffee to warm you up and get you ready for this incredible experience. The safety briefing and introduction to hot air ballooning then follows; after which you will be invited to assist with the setting up of the hot air balloon.
Cape Town offers an abundance in the way of spectacular views and breathtaking landscapes. Your pilot will be able to answer all your questions as well as point out some very interesting facts as you float above the beauty below. The in- flight photo that is taken whilst you are on the hot air balloon flight will certainly leave you with a vivid memoir of this experience.
Once the hot air balloon has landed, you have the opportunity to celebrate your experience with a glass of fine South African wine. Your pilot will hand you a personalised certificate, which he will personally sign.
What to bring along
Early mornings can be a bit chilly but once the hot air balloon has taken off, the temperatures in the basket tend to get slightly warmer, especially because there is no wind. There are however recommended items to bring along.
- Something warm for the early mornings
- Closed shoes
- Jeans (something that can get dirty)
- Camera and binoculars
When and where
Passengers are met at sunrise at the launch site, by the pilot as this is when the air is at its most stable. The launch site varies due to wind direction on that specific day. Our main launch site is just off the N1 at junction 39 between Cape Town and Paarl. If passengers do not have transport to and from the launch site, this can be arranged at an extra cost. Please note that this will be before sunrise.
Your pilot
Our hot air ballooning pilot has vast experience. All pilots have to have a Pilot license and are rated on the balloons that they fly.
The Chief pilot of the company has been flying for the last 12 years and holds a full UK commercial pilot’s licence as well as the South African standard license. He has done over a 1000 flights and has flown for one of the UK’s biggest hot air ballooning companies.
Throughout his piloting career, he has flown in 12 different countries so hot air balloon passengers can be sure that their safety is in experienced hands. Our pilot has also been a hot air balloon flight instructor with the South African School of Ballooning for the past 6 years.
